Crouching Curiosity

Have you ever seen a cat on a leash?
Or an indoor cat that has suddenly and unexpectedly found itself outside?
My family spends a lot of time outside or at the park, and I’ve seen a surprising number of indoor cats that aren't ours hanging around our yard and occasionally at the park. It’s kind of cool to watch, actually.
They walk around, crouching, with just the right amount of caution and curiosity.
There’s something to be said about exploring new places whether they be in the physical world or the internal spiritual one.
I think we have this tendency to want to go all in and see everything there is to be seen right away.
But what if we did a little more crouching around? A slow and steady exploration with just the right amount of caution and curiosity?
Getting to know a new part of self, a new belief, or a new way of living in relationship with others is exciting and can lead to overwhelm and the sense of failure when we jump in headfirst without a guide or something to pace the integration of this new-ness.
The cats that I’ve been watching at the yard stop to roll around in the sunshine, they creep in and out of hiding spots, and they wait around for just the right leaf to blow by before they pounce and start all over again with plenty of time to rest and reset.
As you move forward, think about the indoor cat exploring the outdoors for the first time.
Go slow, enjoy, and be ever so curious. And don’t forget to bask in the sun when it shows itself.
Be sure to clear any energetic dust you stumble upon doing all this crouching, wink wink!
